Michele Wilkinson: IMWI Update

For those of you that don't know Michele Wilkinson, one of our newest SWAT members, I thought I would share a link to her story featured on the Channel 3000 news tonight. Michele, along with her husband Brendan, will be competing in IMWI this weekend. (See the above post to view the video)

I receive regular updates from her as she reaches for her fundraising goal for the Susan G Komen Foundation in preparation for Ironman. Below, I am also sharing her most recent training and fundraising update.

**********************************************************************
Five days!!!! Just 5 days until Ironman Wisconsin is here! I can't believe it...the time has flown by. As of today, I am more excited than nervous. I have done what I could do and I can't control the weather, so I am just going to soak it all in and enjoy the experience to the fullest! Taper has been going well and I have been enjoying the shorter workouts. This morning, a 20 minute run, 15 minute swim and 30 minute bike, gotta love it!!! More of the same for the rest of the week.

I did want to share an article that was written about me any my journey to Ironman in the Janesville Gazette...the link is below:

Race timing: As promised, I have attached our cue sheets as to where Brendon and I will think we will be throughout the course of the day/night. These are our estimates based on what we think our pace will be that day. Thursday evening, I will be sending out another email with the My Athlete Tracker information (how to log in and track us), which will give you live tracking information thaat will tell you exactly where we are on the course throughout the day. So, if you have a computer or smart phone, you will be able to use My Athlete Tracker :). Look forward to seeing you out there! And if you see us on the run, be prepared for a sweaty hug.

Fundraising update: Just $136.00 left to reach $15,000.00!!!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone that has made a donation! I have been so overwhelmed by your support! If you have not had an opportunity to make your donation yet, it's not too late. Donations can be made online until Friday, September 10th at the web address listed below. Remember, all proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Madison Affiliate.

I do really want to thank everyone for their support over these last 5 months! My running partners and friends, couldn't have done them without you and appreciate all the early mornings with fun conversation and solving the worlds problems :), everyone at the gym for putting up with my rest days (I will really teach on the bike again), my Mom and Dad for watching the kids upteen times while Brendon and I went out for long bike rides, Tom and Suzie (B's parents and my fantastic in-laws) for watching the kids for long rides, overnights and bringing them to our races, my family and Brendon's family for all of their support, our friends and neighbors who have had the kids over for playdates while we ride or run, all of the new friends I have made through this journey, all of our friends, our amazing children who hae been so patient this whole summer (can't wait for Florida this fall!), everyone at Komen Madison - the support you have given has been phenomenal and am happy to have met all of you, and my ROCKIN' husband Brendon...you are the absolute best, I love you to pieces! Our long rides and running dates have meant more to me than you will ever know. I cannot wait to race with you this weekend and cross the finish line together!! It'll be a great day!!!!!

Thanks again for taking this journey with me and hopefully bringing us one step closer to finding a cure for breast cancer!

Enjoy the day everyone!

Michele Wilkinson

Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't, and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.' ----Harvey Mackay
